The Town of Port Hedland leisure facilities are owned by the Town of Port Hedland and exist to encourage participation in a range of sporting and leisure activities by as many people as possible. These facilities are managed on behalf of the Town of Port Hedland by the YMCA whose mission is to provide opportunities for all people to grow in body, mind and spirit.
This is achieved through the many activities, events and services provided both within the walls of each facility and throughout the Town’s sporting club’s, sport and recreation reserves and parks. The service delivered at each of these facilities is intended to activate every individual and to encourage greater participation in community life.

Fostering growth of a range of partnerships such as that between the Town of Port Hedland, YMCA Perth, industry and a number of State and Federal Government agencies has been integral to the development of metropolitan standard leisure facilities and services for the entire population of Port Hedland.
The recent opening of the state of the art Wanangkura Stadium and extensive redevelopment of the South Hedland Aquatic Centre is anticipated to put Port Hedland in the national spotlight as a trailblazer in recreation facility development and service delivery.
It is our intention to continue to foster new partnerships to ensure Port Hedland continues to provide innovative metropolitan standard service delivery.
